Abstract The precise evaluation of the Muskingum model (MM) parameters is quite critical for routing flood waves achieving control in open channels. MM one popular techniques adopted routing. Estimation so as to provide best fit observed and computed flow values a global optimization problem. Several have been past serve this purpose, but efficient algorithms are needed overcome local optima issues improvement accuracy. In paper, efficiency three algorithms, namely Jaya, Covariance Matrix Adaption-Evolution Strategy (CMAES) self-adaptive differential evolution (SaDE), has assessed parameters. sum square deviation outflow (SSQ) considered an objective Also, constraint proposed paper help finding optimal solutions. simulation results show that was least SaDE, followed by CMAES.
